Reviews: 1998 I remember seeing this in the theater. I don’t know what I thot of it then, but now…
I somewhat like it, but not enough to recommend it to others!
In the 1960s (’65) I was 7 years old and could not wait until this show was on every week on TV. Sure, the special effects were poor, but so was Star Trek when it came out around the same time. Yet it had a cool Jupiter 2, space wagon, a cool robot. Plot is inconsequencial when that age!
The film version I thot was going to be cool, but it wasn’t. The special effects were just as lackluster as the ’65. The beautiful Jupiter 2 and robot were nonexistant, what I thot was the Jupiter 2 blew up in space, leaving garbage floating endlessly thru space while some other craft was inside, waiting to get out— watch it if need be, or really don’t watch it (the space wagon wasn’t even there).
Sure, most of the original cast of the TV series was there, but not Dr. Smith or Will Mumy, two of the star of the TV series which I was wek after week and I’m sure most of you did too, if you had been acquainted with the TV series.
~ kevin ——————— In the year 2058, the Earth will soon be uninhabitable after the irreversible effects of pollution and global warming! Professor John Robinson, lead scientist of the Jupiter 2 Mission, will lead his family to the habitable planet Alpha Prime to prep it for colonization. The Jupiter 2 is equipped with a hyperdrive that allows faster-than-light travel, which will eventually be employed to evacuate the citizens of Earth. However hypergates must be constructed on Earth and Alpha Prime to provide stable points of departure and arrival. Dr. Zachary Smith is bribed by a terrorist organization to sabotage the mission, and ends up an unwilling stowaway as the ship blasts off. |
