Reviews: The Holiday 2006 Directed by Nancy Meyers Starring Jude Law, Jack Black, Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Eli Wallach ***** Love this film!
It all takes place during Christmas time. Kate and Cameron want to change houses because they broke up with their boyfriends. Kate live in England, Cameron in L.A., so they take a flight to each other place. There they meet with Black and Law. They fall in love, but thats the problem, for neither of the girls want a “male-free” zone. It is just so romantically funny. Although I get involved with a romantic tale, I focus on the lives: cinema.
I’m immediately drawn into how they live. Music composition for movies, the fact that one composer likes Ennio Morricone (Cinema Paradiso and The Mission). Cameron owes a business of putting Trailers together. She has a vast collection of DVDs that is far beyond mine (1600 DVDs and Blu-rays but is growing). On the wall she has a movie poster of a film by director Jacques Tati (he was the creator of “Mr. Hulot” comedy classics), one of my favorites (I now own all his films in Blu-ray). Then old Eli Wallach (know best for his role in The Magnificent Seven and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly), playing an aging screenwriter befriended by Kate's character.
On and on it goes, filling up my heart with a romantical tale that is what I want it to be!
