Reviews: This is a film I want everyone to watch who is in the vicinity of a volcano. For 30 years I was a part of Tacoma, WA, and Mt. Rainier stood large, even in back of my house. It was glorious, to say the least! Mt. Rainier is a dormant volcano.
My late father-in-law, Mr Sutton — whom I love, but never told him that before he passed away — for a time he was a director of emergency services in the town hall of Tacoma. Now Mr. Sutton, like my parents, wouldn’t be caught deal in a movie theater. However he was persuaded to attend for “Dante’s Peak” because it accurately told of before, during and afterwards in a volcanic explosion. Roger Donaldson, the director of that film, was a geologist before he got caught up with movie-making. He wanted to tell it for how it was and hired volcanologists and seismologists to get it right. Mr. Sutton watched it, being so near Mt. Rainier, and thoroughly loved it because it accurately told what happened.
I watched it at that time too, then later got it via Blu-ray. Awesome film, not only because of the things previous, but the mood of the plot, and the acting too.
Watch it. |
