Reviews: The second DVD I acquired was…
That's Entertainment 2 (1976) *****
Another one shines bright in the cinema firmament!
Seriously tho, this one has its share of song hits, but it also has its comedy and drama. The Marx Brothers, Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, or the homage to Frank Sinatra, Tracy & Hepburn and many others. All done through the two that carry the film: Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.
Now let me tell ya, Fred Astaire did not have "Finian's Rainbow" (1968) as his final musical, as most would agree to. Oh sure, it had it's constant story about a certain theme -- one which I like and it rates up there with the best musicals ever -- yet "That's Entertainment 2," was his last! Singing and dancing, him and Kelly, throughout. I think Astaire would agree with me too! ;-) Yep, THAT was his last musical.
Gee, am I the only one who watches musicals? Hey, I like all films, dramas, comedies, romance, action & adventure and those from all ages from the silent era to modern day, yet I like musicals too and my two top picture and actor are musicals.
Am I alone?
I like "Casablanca," or the recent "Captain America," all films. But I guess I'm in the minority. Most rally around sports events I suppose.
Oh well. God put it into my heart to love film, so "there I stand, I can do no other!" (Martin Luther)
