Reviews:  This is not a true-blue western like how it was during the time of the Old West. Instead it is an old film version. However it is a great film version! The cattle drive is one which will hold up to the cowboys if they saw it. The plot doesn’t hold up well tho as far as being the Real West. True, segments always ring true because if we can thing of them, then they thot of them. “There is nothing new under the under the sun,” so says the Scripture in Ecclesiastes.

It tells the story of the Duke at the beginning giving his love a bracelet that had been given him by his mother. The girl wants to come with him, but he won’t allow it, due to he’s not sure what land will be his. Three hours ride and the Duke and gold ‘ol Walter Brennan see that the wagon-train she was on is decimated by the indians. Then a little while later 7 or 8 indians try and wipe out them, but the indians now are dead. Duke looks at the wrist of one of the dead indians and discovers the bracelet that he had given to his girl.

He then gives it to a young male (who turns out to be the actor Montgomery Cliff), saying they now he was family. Things heat up between the Duke and Cliff and they part ways, tho we all wish they could stay together. The Duke in his desire to get the cattle driven 1000 miles, will stop at nothing to see that its done. Cliff eventually meets up with a different wagon-train and he meets a girl. Apparently he gave her the bracelet. The Duke eventually sees the bracelet because he is deadset on pursuing Cliff and killing him. The girl could do nothing…until the end of the film. The bracelet is a sign of family because again, the Duke was given it by his mom. Focus on the bracelet and the whole film will make sense to you.

Gee, I must like this film a lot, seeing I’ve written so much about it, and apparently you haven’t seen it yet! I shall shut-up.
